The other day I was asked if I had ever photographed a homeowner that collected a variety of things and, if so, how were they displayed. I have shot a number of "collectors", but Patty Redford was one the best in terms of displaying her treasures. Thought I'd share Patty's collections with you.
This story was originally shot for Canadian Home and Country magazine, and her kitchen nook ended up on the cover. Sadly, the magazine is no longer published.
McCoy pottery
Grindley and McCoy pottery
Vintage globes. Love these!
More McCoy in pretty turquoise, in a relaxing reading nook.
Vintage tin trucks.
Custom shelf built to showcase tin cars and trucks.
Patty also collects children's readers and vintage mirrors.
A vintage tin milk truck in her minimal white kitchen. Take note of the glass pitchers over the window.
What do you collect? Hate clutter? I'd love to know!
Happy Friday everyone! Have a lovely weekend. See you on Monday with a new addition to my "Baked On Monday"!

Oh I have that copy! And I think I even blogged about that white cabinet - (hope I credited you as the photographer)! I love collections. She has some amazing stuff!
Wishing you a great weekend!
Gorgeous! Sometimes collections can make a home seem cluttered, but these are arranged so nicely.
Happy Friday!
So much inspiration, today. Lovely arrangements!
Wishing you a great weekend with a lot of sunshine! xo
Just gorgeous.. you capture moments so wonderfully! xx
Some collections can make for a "cluttered" look, briannelee, I agree with you there! Over all, Patty's house is pretty minimal, so it all seems to work.
Thanks for all your comments, lovely ladies!
It's great all this collections...
Have a good week-end and see you soon !
Love the Tiffany Blue color of the pottery.
Congratulations on the Cover Click!
What a gorgeous home! I love her displays. The toy cars are my faves! Looking forward to seeing more cooking shots...yum.
All of these photos are absolutely beautiful, the vintage globes really caught my attention! How cool!
The repetition is so peaceful and orderly - careful display seems to be the key to a good-looking collection. And the armoire of crockery is ever so lovely, with something of a a giraffe's grace about it despite its breadth.
I remember that issue - love, love, love! xx
Love the Globe 'Collection'. :) If one takes a closer look at the mirror behind them, one can actually see, that there are even more of them at the opposite wall. Very clever!
And though the Lady sure does collect a lot of different things, the house doesn't look like a mess! :D Kudos!
A lovely weekend to you, too!
Just checking if you got my email.. I have no faith in it!! x

I remember this issue and this house as the collections were so beautifully displayed. I was so sorry to see that magazine go....
So cute - I miss that magazine. Beautifully done my friend.
These are gorgeous - wish my "collections" looked as clean and organized as these.... I like the white to showcase them; and the subtle glass pitchers in the kitchen. Fantastic! Hope you have a great weekend as well :)
Wow I love the collections of china and the old toys, and they're displayed fantastically in those great cabinets. Beautiful images of course. xx

My collections are too numerous to mention which is why I am now on a no-spending, no-buying experiment. I must start using what I have or get rid of it. Clutter is not pretty.
I'm so happy for your visit on my blog! Really an Honour! kisses from florence

What a neat collection! Beautiful! I like to collect a few things - but not get too cluttery. I like old bottles, vintage patterns, and antique keys. I also found this adorable set of pelican salt and pepper shakers at an antique store once and just had to have them - even though I don't collect salt and pepper shakers!
I keep my collecting going by making sure I have more when I walk in to the consignment shop than when I walk out. I also have been collecting .30 magazines from the thrift shop. I tear out the photos I love and create inspiration books. I suppose I should thank you for all of the inspiring images, I assure you your work is appreciated!
what? that's THE most beautifully done 'collector's' home i've ever seen. kinda makes me want to collect...
