City Living in NYC

This past April, I had the pleasure of hanging out with Jen Ramos of Made By Girl, her husband Matt and Darla the boxer, at their NYC apartment. A small space and, wow, was it ever organized! Their home is in a special issue of Style At Home that's all about organizing. Here's some more of our shoot....

Jen's perfectly tidy office and paint studio. Turquoise candle holders from The Cross

Some of Jen's paintings and prints. You can check out more of her work here

Matt whipped up a small smorgasbord for us. He's not a chef, but he could be. So delicious.

Hard to keep my eyes off this box of Sprinkles cupcakes during the shoot.

Do you live in a small space?  We do, but I can't call it organized. Any special tricks for de-cluttering? Feel free to share your ideas!

Have a lovely day!

Love what Jen and Matt have done with their small apartment, so many nice touches.

I would really like to hear any hints for a small space. Our Little House, is just over 700 sq. feet and I am 'organize challenged' and need Help!! xo

That art piece with the pink and purple swirls is really lovely. The whole apartment is great. So tidy...I don;t think I could be that neat. I do like trays, bowls and baskets to corral clutter..

A small space, a mostly white palette, a painter and a boxer! How does she keep everything so clean and neat? I'll need to get that special Style at Home issue to find out. It's beautiful!

wow - what a great space! We are in a small apartment right now and it's not easy keeping the clutter at bay. I guess the trick is lots of closed storage to hide stuff away. Love her clean white palette :)

You captured Jen's place perfectly, Janis. Plus, how adorable is Darla - soooooo cute!

I am living in a small space but can't 'really' de-clutter... though I try to every 2 weeks or so.
It always looks like the smallest A-Bomb in the World had hit my Place... D:

Besides...
Too small a living space = always too much stuff lying around
(at least it looks like that to the eye) :(

Jen makes her apartment a work of art. Each space is unique but ties together with style and elegance. You capture it so well. Great details. As for organizing, I think the key is declutter and make storage boxes stylish and a design element of the space.

wow- very pretty and so tidy!! i would spill something in seconds in that living room, i feel it.
no tips here, as i look around all i see are 'stacks' and 'piles'. is that a type of organization??

you captured everything beautifully! i live in a small place now and sometimes it is organized but at the moment it is awfully cluttered. i need to clean up again and get rid of a couple of things. that's always so refreshing.

Great pics Janis! I love what Jen had done to her NY pad, it looks so darn clean and organized! I'm sure its not big in square footage but looks so light and airy. You did a great job showing that:)

Once upon a time when I lived all by myself in a 1-bed apartment in Toronto it was very tidy and organized. Add husband, 2 kids and a dog and we're in a much bigger, much less organized space. What a fun weekend that must have been!
